ATAC Chapter 49: A Surprise

While Liu Yu’an didn’t think much of it, but while scrolling through BlindFool’s posts, he felt a familiarity.

He ends up calling Liu Yuxi.

“Are you BlindFool on WeChat?”

“Liu Yu’an, you really are getting denser by the day,” his older brother retorts.

“Who would have known you were so holed up yourself,” Liu Yu’an returns the favour, and continues, “so did you post that ‘my younger brother can’t possibly act stuck up’ to fight over me? Don’t worry, you will never rank as high as Yanxi in my mind, so you can give up now.”

“I’ll write your pocket money this month off to charity,” currently Liu Yu’an has some pocket money each month as supported by his older brother.

“Liu Yuxi, don’t take a mile for an inch.”

“Yeah, yeah, I’m busy with work; I’m hanging up.”

Liu Yu’an “…”

Yup, his Yanxi is much cuter.

Thinking about that, he decides to call Shao Yanxi again, but it’s still off.

Liu Yu’an only realises now that he only has the contact details of assistant He of all the close contacts of Shao Yanxi. And as he is in Europe, he can’t just go ask. Now the company is also off work so he can’t go ask for Xue Zhi’s phone number.

He worries through the night, deciding that he will fly to Europe if the call still won’t connect tomorrow morning.

Thankfully, it connects the next time he calls.

Though he is certainly in a noisy place. No matter how loud Shao Yanxi got, Liu Yu’an still couldn’t hear clearly, but knowing he’s safe is enough. He hung up in the end.

Relieved, he heads for where the second episode of the Celebs’ show is taking place when Xiao-Zhang comes to collect him.

Apparently the show originally wanted to dump them on a deserted island, but because of He Anran and the snake las time, they decided to instead head for an unfrequented stretch of coastline. This is where Lai and Anxi meet by the coast.

When Liu Yu’an is here, the other regulars, He Anran, Xue Junming and Xu Bing are already here. They greet each other.

He Anran says, “oh, I can’t wait to see who the guests are this time.”

The director says, “I guarantee you’ll be surprised. This way.”

They decide to play a guessing game on the way, working through famous current celebrities to even the older generation actors and actresses.

The director keeps rejecting their choices though, and none of them have managed a correct guess even after they have reached their destination; that, or the director is lying.

When finally they reach the shoreline and see the four guests of the episode, all four of them go “!!!”

“Oh my god! It’s Mr. Shao,” she yells out, then looks towards Liu Yu’an.

Liu Yu’an is just as surprised as she is, but also feels a little wronged at the same time. Still, he walks towards him, asking, “what’s up?”

Shao Yanxi’s expression is gentler than usual looking at Liu Yu’an. He tells him when they’re in front of each other, “I was done with work and didn’t have anything else to do.”

Since he hired several vice executives, he’s had a lot more free time.

Then they start greeting each other. Shao Yanxi gives them a distant ‘mm’ in return. The director comes to smooth things over for everyone to get familiar.

Besides Shao Yanxi, the three guests this time are the top idol Lan Shi, the obscure ex-idol An Xin and the comedian Ge Zhengzhi.

Apparently the movie star Xue Junming already knew An Xin, while He Anran already knew Ge Zhengzhi.

Then they fire up the mood some more. Ge Zhengzhi mentions the comment barrage yesterday, and their topic switches towards Shao Yanxi, who mentions that “Anyan is an investor of the show.”

The director also had to explain that Anyan is the small company of whom Liu Yu’an is a part of.

While they have been no stranger to weird gazes by now, Liu Yu’an and Shao Yanxi receives another round of them when everyone realises the meaning of that name, and they start teasing Liu Yu’an for it.

——Because they don’t dare tease Shao Yanxi.
