To try going out?

Du You is shocked.

Was that even possible?

It’s his first ever being confessed to and his first ever being spoken to like this, so Du You has no idea how to react.

Shen Chen said that they should avoid each other so as not to waste their time on this, and he did, but it did not work as expected.

Actually, the situation worsened.

How should he respond?

Even the system that would usually have come up with questionable schemes at times like these is silent.

Since they were not particularly muffling their speech, Ryan’s ears twitch in the living room, as he pokes his head out of his blanket.

He is still drowsy, half-asleep right now, so he doesn’t know what’s going on, nor is he aware that his self-declared lover is being confessed to right now.

No one is speaking.

‘Ding dong——’

The doorbell has broken the deathly silence.

Despite that, You Haoyu does not look away, still staring fixedly at Du You.

The doorbell continues to ring, and the overwhelmed Du You begins mentally aborting.

So he looks towards the entrance, “is it your agent?”

He starts moving towards the door.

But his arm is grabbed by You Haoyu.

His hand is hotter than usual, and Du You notices that it is also slightly trembling as well.

That is when he finally realises that You Haoyu seems to be extremely nervous.

He is staring at him fixedly still, silent.

The doorbell is ringing even more incessantly now, being pressed again before the last chime ended.

Du You tries pulling his arm away lightly. He failed.

It seems the situation will not defuse without a firm answer.

So Du You says, “I understand.”

You Haoyu’s heart skips a beat.

Du You continues, “for a week, right?”

You Haoyu opens his mouth, and after a long delay, with a creaky tone, “… yes.”

“Then, I’ll be waiting when the movie is finished.”

You Haoyu seems to still be in disbelief to hear the affirmative answer. He both hoped Du You would accept and feared he would reject it at the same time.

He asks, sounding extremely lacking in confidence, “did, did you agree?”

Du You nods.

You Haoyu’s hand immediately tightens before gradually loosening. His whole face is beet-red, “thank you.”

The system seems shocked [Wait, host, did you just agree to go out with him?!]

Du You corrects it [To try going out for a week]

System [But, but…]

It really cannot see its host feeling anything resembling ‘affection’ towards him.

Du You [Then he can shoot his movie in peace during this time, and, after not seeing any result after a week, he will be able to give up, I think]

The system goes quiet.

So that’s the logic he came up with.

For You Haoyu, of course the best outcome is the tried and true saying that there is nothing more permanent than a temporary solution, but for the host, it is his way to bide time——He would cooperate for a week to convince them to give up on him voluntarily.

The system is quite impressed.

Anyway, the doorbell is still ringing. In fact, it might be broken soon as this rate.

Odd. If it’s the agent, he definitely wouldn’t have been in such a strange hurry.

The two of them look at each other, puzzled.

You Haoyu, “I’ll go open the door.”

He walks towards the entrance with his phone out.

The message he received earlier was from his agent, as expected. He said he’ll be there in ten minutes, so he can come down then.

Ten minutes?

You Haoyu recalls something.

The doorbell starting ringing barely a minute after receiving the message, so, it is not the agent. Who is it?

Then, he is struck with a realisation.

This has happened before in a similar fashion. It would have to be that person.

While You Haoyu has zero interest in entertaining him right now, but he had to leave the house soon anyway, so he grabs the doorknob and opens it.

It seems the young man outside also expected him to be opening the door, so even his usual disguise is missing. His usually warm amber eyes now look utterly hostile too.

“Good morning,” while his lips are curled up, he is definitely not smiling, “did I miss something important you were discussing?”

He is exuding a more aggressive aura than last time. Meeting his eyes sends a chill down You Haoyu’s spine.

If he is from the same world as Du You and grew up as childhood acquaintances with him, then that must have meant he is likely to be nonhuman too.

And really, compared to Du You, Qin Ge does fit the image of being ‘nonhuman’ much more than him.

He disguises himself well. He is manipulative, unreadable.

He ignores Qin Ge’s question, and turns to Du You, “the agent is almost here, so I will be waiting outside.”

Du You nods.

As if Qin Ge was thin air, You Haoyu walks outside without a second glance.

Qin Ge looks quite indifferent, and quickly warms up as he turns to Du You, “good morning, gege.”

“Why are you here?”

It’s only five in the morning, too early to even head to work. Plus, he was in a hotel these few days, so it is too much of a coincidence he is visiting right this moment.

“I’ll drive you to the company,” he smiles, “it is truly too early to ask Xiao Jie to come.”

It’s a painfully obvious excuse.

Nor is it the first time he’s overstepped his job obligations. At least, Du You understands from this that what he said that night was practically white noise to him.

He turns around, “I’ll get the key.”

You Haoyu is outside. Du You and Qin Ge seemed to be talking behind him, and he is slightly curious, but he holds himself back from turning around.

If Du You agreed to his request, then he must abide by his promise as well. He will rethink his feelings until the movie is over and not cling to Du You in the meantime.

Although he is confident his mind wouldn’t change, but he has to prove that his confession isn’t an act of impulse to him.

The sky is still barely lit, and there is a fog over the city. You Haoyu puts his mask on and then buries his hands in his jacket’s pockets as he waits for his agent.

Soon enough the familiar nanny van is here, honking at him too.

It certainly is noisy especially when contrasted with the serenity of the early morning.

The door opens and the agent jumps off, “why were you waiting outside, it’s cold, you know.”

You Haoyu ignores him to board the car directly.

“Wait, Mr. Du is also here isn’t he? I’ll go thank him.”

He was only informed yesterday that You Haoyu’s residence was burgled and all messed up. CEO Du had him live in his place as he was worried for his safety.

It certainly was earth-shattering news for the agent.

No, wait, actually, not really. The signs were there ever since he personally made a visit to the movie shoot location.

He knows very well how deep the murkiness go in the pond that is the entertainment industry. Sure, it sounds nice——Worried about his employee’s safety.

Whether the burglary was true or not, if he wasn’t thinking that then he had no need to take him home at all.

What about hotels? Or even just a simple motel?

He does not believe Xinwen Entertainment would have been so broke they couldn’t even afford that.

And besides, personal safety of the celebrity was something he was personally in charge of, but great, in the end not only was he uninformed but the boss actually took him home without notifying him at all.

Seriously, he would eat his own shoe if there was nothing between the two of them!

But still, that is not his place to speak.

If they are both willing——Though do excuse him for failing to imagine how someone so utterly prideful like You Haoyu would actually agree to this – But anyway, he just has to do his job in any case. And, since he’s at the top boss’ home, he would of course have to appeal a bit (TL: Say, it’s five in the morning. What do you think the ‘boss’ is most likely to be doing right now? Your charge is only awake because he has to work… Or, put more bluntly, what if I showed up at your house at 5 in the morning just because I ‘happened to be passing by and wanted to appeal myself to you’?).

But when the agent is walking towards the mansion, he gets grabbed by the shoulder, so forcefully that he lost his balance and falls down, sitting onto the car floor.

It’s his agent.

“Get on. Drive,” his brows are furrowed.

It is quite the rough reminder to agent Wu that his celebrity had zero respect for him.

But, think about the money Xinwen Entertainment is paying to him. Just grit your teeth and get on with it.

He stands up, “isn’t it rude to visit and not at least greet him? Don’t worry, it won’t be long.”

Then, suddenly, he seems to recall, “oh, wait, is he not up yet? Then nevermind (TL: … Are you really a renowned agent in the industry?).”

You Haoyu, without a change to his expression at all, “no.”

The agent slumps his shoulders in disappointment, but then, he hears people talking when he is about to get back onto the car.

With his proud 5.0 eyesight, he is certain the person walking out from the mansion is CEO Du.

“He’s awake, isn’t he?” A smirk, and a pull on his suit, “I’ll be back after a quick greeting.”

“Oi!”

He ran away too quickly for You Haoyu to stop him this time.

Qin Ge is still there. If his agent went there right now something troublesome is sure to happen.

Du You is outside with his car keys, then he sees a man walking towards him.

He is smiling quite passionately, “good morning, Mr. Du! I’m Xiao Wu, you saw me last time at the movie shoot as well, do you recall?”

Though he is much older than Du You, societal position dictates he would be addressing him humbly right now.

“Mr. Wu.”

Of course Du You remembers You Haoyu’s agent.

When Du You is about to raise his hand to meet his for a handshake, his hand gets held back.

Qin Ge, “Mr. Du is to head to his company right now. Was there anything else?”

“No, no, I’m just here to pay my respects.”

His hand hovers in mid-air as he says it, but it’s nothing for someone experienced like him, and he naturally retracts his hand.

He looks towards the person speaking as he does so.

Someone daring to hold Mr. Du’s hand back is definitely no mere secretary or assistant.

But agent Wu is still shocked nonetheless when he sees him clearly.

Th-, this is…

Qin Ge has always hated being stared at.

But, in front of Du You, and in public, he is still smiling courteously, “can I help you?”

The agent is awestruck.

No no no, he…

Isn’t he just a perfect future star-in-waiting?!

His celebrities senses are tingling.

TL’s notes: Too bad if agent Wu ends up a few clean-cut piles of flesh then the novel would probably be classified as horror instead… Specifically, I still remember that scene in Resident Evil with the lasers. I think I was like 8 or 9 when I saw it the first time… Still gives me the chills.
