RALP Chapter 4

You should read this chapter over at Travis Translations – It’s free and the ad revenue is much better for me!

Of course, what is important right now is to finish the meal in front of him.

The customers have been paying attention to this young man for a while now. When he sat there unmoving they thought he was finally full. But soon after, he’s started eating again. Then they finally realise that –

So he was digesting.

The system didn’t pay attention to what Du You thought just now. It sees him eating again and thinks it’s managed to calm him down after all, and sighs in relief.

Of course, it’s not given up on following the plot yet. While the host is repulsed to the idea right now, but times change. When he starts accepting this reality, he will certainly turn back into the obedient host from before.

When Du You finishes, he goes to pay. When he’s leaving, the bartender hands him an umbrella.

“Customer, the rain is quite heavy right now. It might be better if you waited a while. This umbrella is for you.”

The bar is insulated quite well and there’s music being performed, so customers would have a hard time noticing the changes outside.

Looking out the window, Du You sees the rainwater wildly splashing across the windows, forming several trails.

After working out the distance from the bar to his car, he agrees to it. Yet, the moment he turns around, he got splashed with red wine.

The culprit, a lady holding onto an empty glass seems quite embarrassed. She wanted to hit on him, but couldn’t muster the courage. She only approached on a friend’s encouragement when the man is about to leave.

Now she’s not managed to say anything yet and instead has splashed them with wine. What should she do?

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” Apologising, she takes out tissues, “I’ll help you clean up.”

“No need. I’ll give it a quick wash,” Du You asks the waiter, “where’s the restrooms.”

The waiter quickly leads him on.

The bar ‘Moonlight’ is divided into two areas. Outside is the public area with the bar stools, inside are paid private rooms.

The restroom is on the corridor connecting the public area with the rooms. It is bright and large inside, with a light fragrance.

When Du You enters, another person is washing his face. His hair is dyed a prominent silvery gray. On the side of the sink there is a black mask and cap, probably belonging to that person.

The red wine was largely on his clothes, and part of it on his neck. Du You opens the tap, wiping the red liquid from his neck.

The system says with a surprised tone, [Impressive execution by the person just now. Host, believe me, when you go out she’ll definitely tell you she’ll help wash your clothes and ask for your contact details.]

Du You pauses, [I can go BG?]

System [No. Host, you were actually excited just now, weren’t you! I warn you, never ever dream about it.]

But, Du You did just mention it on a whim, since he’s neither interested in men nor women. His true love is dear food and the amazing Internet.

The other person finishes washing his face and raises his head. Du You sees that man’s face clearly from the mirror.

He is dazzling and noble in appearance. His iris is amber, but his also has slit eyebrows, making his facial profile rather aggressive. With the prominent silvery-gray hair, the whole person gives off a reckless and disobedient feel.

The water slides down from his tall nose bridge. The person notices Du You’s gaze, and also turns from his mirror, raises his brow and says, “what.”

Du You takes his gaze back.

The man wipes his face clean, wears the mask and cap, and walks out.

The system seems angry, [Woah, what’s with that guy? Host, you’re a bossy CEO, against these little cannon fodder that aren’t even mob characters, you should be more imposing!]

“You Haoyu.” Says Du You.

The system hears its host actually speaking. Seeing nobody else around, it does the same, “You Haoyu?”

“The celebrity endorsing the brand.”

The system is uninterested in anything not related to the Bottom. It recalls when the host reminds it that there is some A-list celebrity endorsing the latest series of products of the Du Conglomerate.

Du You only thought the person’s face was familiar from browsing Weibo today and seeing a photo of him.

Though given the affairs of his company were all handled by subordinates, he never did meet with this A-list celebrity. So he doesn’t recognise him either.

The system is suspicious, “isn’t he a popular star? Why’s he at this little bar? In novels these people usually only visit members-only nightclubs.”

Du You replies, “I’m a bossy CEO myself.”

The system counters, “that’s different. You’re here for the Bottom. Wherever the Bottom is, not just bars, even if it were undeveloped wildlands you’d still have to go.”

Du You doesn’t reply.

He will certainly have to go. Thinking about it, to find the other members of the Top, Xiao Tiantian is the only clue he has.

Currently, only Shen Chen is confirmed to be one. On the one hand, he must prevent the two from interacting further. On the other, he must confirm who the other Tops are.

Walking out of the restroom, a bottle of red wine flies along. Du You tilts his head and dodges. The bottle smashes onto the wall and breaks into pieces. The glass falls onto the ground, while the liquid leaves behind a red splotch on the wall.

“You really don’t know your betters. That Xiaomei likes you is an honour. Gigolos like you with only the face going for it are merely playboys for the fans, so what’s with this arrogance, huh?!”

The one speaking is someone whose hair is dyed golden. He has a crying girl in his embrace, and his fingers are pointed at the masked man in front of him. It appears he is so mad his fingers are trembling.

And the red wine was clearly thrown by this guy, though his accuracy is wack. Not only did it failed to hit the target, it almost hit Du You as well.

Another man with a baby face stands next to the angry man, saying, “that’s right Haoyu. Today is Xiaomei’s birthday. Even if you won’t give her your blessings, at least don’t put up a long face. Why did you have to beat the girl?”

The private room’s door behind them is open, and loud music can be heard coming from inside. Several other young men and women walk out and start filming on their phones like this thing is not bad enough yet.

The person standing off is You Haoyu.

His face is hidden behind the mask and the cap, so his face cannot be read.

“Put the phones down.” The words almost sound like they’re squeezed out from his throat.

Though the side with more people is clearly unafraid. Instead, they jeer, “celebrity You, it’s your own doing. If you dare to hit someone then don’t mind our free advertising here.”

The man with the golden hair moves the crying girl to his back, and says, “don’t hit girls. If you’re a man, then fight me.”

The system seems to be in a panic. It might love love quarrels, but not ones that result in bloodshed like this, [Host, quickly go. Don’t get involved with this. You might be in trouble too.]

Just after saying that, its host starts walking towards the young men and women.

The system is depressed, [Host, do you have to go against whatever I say.]

Those people seeing a usually highfalutin celebrity taking the fall here are quite pleased with themselves. They continue jeering, “celebrity You, the only thing going for you is that face of yours. So don’t block it, and show it to us so we can film it.”

“Yeah yeah,” a girl makes a screeching laughter, “maybe your female fans will increase more. Hey, hitting people, hitting a girl, how ‘manly.'”

And just after saying that, the pink phone in her hand got taken away.

In almost a single moment, all the phones filming are taken away.

Everyone is shocked. And the owner of the pink phone reacts first. She wanted to start throwing a tantrum but when she sees the young man’s appearance she blushes slightly.

Quietly, she says, “why, why are you taking my phone~”

Everyone is shocked, turning to look at this fierce lady whose usual speech style requires bleeping out 1/3 of the time.

Du You, “I believe filming someone without their consent is not a good thing to do.”

The golden-haired man yells, “who the fuck are you, why are you doing this!”

Du You lifts the phones up.

“No!” When everyone sees that he’s about to smash them, they all put their Erkang hands up.

So Du You puts his hands back down, and everyone sighs in relief.

The man yells again, “give us our phones back now, or I’ll fucking call the police on you robbing us!”

Du You lifts his hand up again.

“Hey!” Everyone goes Erkang hands again.

The owner of the pink phone steps on the feet of the man, impatient, “can you stop that? He’s got hostages.”

The man “???”

“So-, sorry, it’s all my fault,” Xiaomei comes forth and says while crying, “I only invited you here because I’m your fan and everyone wanted me to have a good birthday. Ple-, please don’t be mad.”

“Invite me here?” You Haoyu is actually smiling from his extreme rage, “more like deceiving and coercing me to come here.”

The girl is frightened by the man’s tone, and starts wailing again.

The angry man steps forth himself, “stop being so damned rude to Xiaomei.”

You Haoyu doesn’t want to be involved in this anymore, and turns around to leave. The angry man catches his arm though. And when his face twitches and about to throw a punch, he sees a few mobile phones flying in an arc towards him.

“The phones!”

The owners of the phones are all quite alarmed and jumpers for it. They push away Xiaomei and the babyface, and makes their way for the angry man.

He is quite stunned by this and takes an involuntary step back.

So Du You drags You Haoyu and walks out the door. To save their phones, the group behind them ended up falling over in their scramble to save their phones.

Though, even if their bodies have fallen, their hands are held high with the phones they’ve successfully saved like a victory pose.

The angry man at the bottom of the pile twitches himself, “fucking move!”

‘Clang.’

The yell disappears behind the closed door. Outside, the rain is still pouring. The asphalt road is all black. The waters are flowing in a stream racing for the sewers.

You Haoyu swings Du You’s hand away, and stands a metre away.

The system seems infuriated, [Host, you did help him, didn’t you. He’s so pretentious!]

Du You doesn’t mind. He originally wanted to wait until the raining eased up, but the situation calls for him to leave sooner than later.

Opening the umbrella, he looks over to the man, “did you not bring an umbrella?”

“Who are you?” You Haoyu asks, unrelatedly.

“My name is unimportant. You can call me Robin Hood.”

“Ha?!” You Haoyu drags his mask down, “you saw my face just now, didn’t you.”

Put another way, he’s A-list. So not just in the entertainment circles, perhaps even the middle-aged man driving a cab would have heard of his name.

It’s quite unlikely the young man in front of him doesn’t know him.

He furrows his brows, “why help me. Do you want money?”

[How rude.] The system is so angry it’s biting its handkerchief, [Does he think this bossy CEO right here needs money? Host, take your wallet out, and slap this brat with your big fat pile of cash!] (TL: That, or something else on you that’s ‘big and fat’? Sluuurp~)

Du You shakes his head.

“Then you…” You Haoyu pauses, hesitant, “are my fan?”

“No.”

Du You’s answer is too direct, making You Haoyu feel slightly complicated like his dignity has been called into question.

Du You looks at him and says, “if you’re a celebrity, your image is important. Try not to get involved in trouble outside.”

No matter what, You Haoyu is endorsing his line of products.

He might be terribly detached from the management of his company, but he still wants to take care his products are unaffected.

Du You feels that he sure is a responsible CEO, and is quite touched with himself.

You Haoyu’s lips perk up, and chuckles, “true, that. Though I really don’t want to hear that from someone scuffling intimately with two other men late at night.”

Du You “???”

Wait, he saw the love triangle just now?!
